A Joyful Noise
“Oh come, let us sing to the LORD; let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation! Let us come into his presence with thanksgiving; let us make a joyful noise to him with songs of praise!” (Psalm 95:1-2, ESV).
Psalm 95 begins exuberantly, calling God’s people to worship. Here one of the same themes from the end of Psalm 94 reappears—God as a place of security and deliverance—but now the tone has moved from calm assurance to jubilant exaltation. The four exhortations of these two verses all line up in that same appeal, that God’s people should lift up songs of rejoicing and gratitude to their Lord.
As we face the challenges of this day, let us turn our hearts to praise. God is good, and He has been exceedingly kind to us. He is our refuge in every trial, the giver of every blessing. Let us be a people of gratitude, and give worship to the all-worthy God, our Maker and Savior, our friend and King.
