A Light to My Path

“Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path” (Psalm 119:105, ESV).

Here is a powerful image for the guidance and protection offered by God’s Word. As a lamp lights the way, showing the safe and productive path and warning travelers of any pits or obstacles that lie hidden, so God’s teaching lights the way for faithful living. Walking by His Word, the believer trusts God for guidance and protection.

Walk by the light of God’s Word. Rely on the wisdom of the infinite God, rather than the ways of the world. Our hearts and minds are easily deceived, and all too ready to stumble off into the darkness. But God is light, and He is able to light our way with His truth, so that we will have the joy of fellowship with Him through this life and on into eternity.
