“Why should the nations say, ‘Where is their God?’ Our God is in the heavens; he does all that he pleases” (Psalm 115:2-3, ESV).
Psalm 115 continues to reflect on the glory of God by declaring His absolute sovereignty. Of course He should get the glory (see v.1), for He is exalted over all. When it appears that God is absent, and when people mock Him, the faithful heart holds to the truth that God is King. Where is He? On His throne. As the exalted Lord over all, He does whatever He chooses; therefore we can have complete confidence in Him.
Take courage in God’s kingship. However things may seem to go in this life, God’s sovereignty is undisputed and His victory is sure. The wicked are permitted—within limits—to work their will for awhile; even so, nothing is outside of God’s authority. In the end, He will bring His kingdom in fulness, vindicate His people, and judge justly. Hold fast to Him, and walk in the way of the Master.
