“Let my cry come before you, O LORD; give me understanding according to your word! Let my plea come before you; deliver me according to your word” (Psalm 119:169-170, ESV).
The psalmist finds comfort and hope in God’s word. These two verses have a parallel structure, lifting up a desperate plea to God, and then turning to His word for understanding and deliverance. To Him we direct our every need, and in His teaching we find the guidance and strength to persevere.
Turn to God with the cries of your heart. What weighs upon you? What fears threaten you? What temptations attack you? Call out to your Maker and Savior—and turn your attention to the wisdom and promises laid before us in His Word.
