“The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom; all those who practice it have a good understanding. His praise endures forever!” (Psalm 111:10, ESV).
This verse ends the short 111th psalm. God’s providential and redemptive care has been the theme. If the Lord has all things in His hands, then it makes sense to say that the first step of wisdom is to have regard for God. Conversely, folly is shown by disregard for God (Psalm 14:1). Wisdom is shown in reverence for the Almighty, our Maker and Redeemer, the Lord of all.
Walk in the fear of the Lord today, and worship Him with reverence. He cares for you, and is able to carry you through all the struggles of this life. Turn away from self-reliance, and rely on the God who is able to do all things. May the wisdom of humility, faith, and awe, be yours today.
