Glad Songs

“Glad songs of salvation are in the tents of the righteous: ‘The right hand of the LORD does valiantly, the right hand of the LORD exalts, the right hand of the LORD does valiantly!’” (Psalm 118:15-16, ESV).

The psalmist has made the Lord his song (v.14), and declares that those who follow God will likewise rejoice. The homes of God’s people will sing of His saving might. With a triple repetition, God’s strength is extolled in describing the work of His right arm—an image for power and action. God saves and lifts up those who trust in Him.

Look to God for deliverance, and in times of trouble trust that the end for all of God’s people is rejoicing. God knows our needs, burdens, and struggles. In every situation, He is able to rescue His own, to bring deliverance and dignity and honor. Trust in God and do His will, and He will do valiantly.
