“Let the sea roar, and all that fills it; the world and those who dwell in it!” (Psalm 98:7, ESV).
The joyful proclamation of God’s salvation resounds throughout Psalm 98, with the middle to latter portions of the poem hammering again and again the invitation for all to join in the chorus of praise. Let the world bring its music, voices and instruments in joyous worship (vv.4-6); let nature join the refrain, echoing the glory of God (vv.7-8). Redemption will one day be complete, and God’s reign realized over all the world (v.9).
Great is the Lord, and worthy of all worship and honor. Let reflection on His might and the gift of life in Jesus our Savior strengthen you as you go through your day. The present order of things is temporary; the reign of God is eternal. When life is hard, turn your eyes to the living Lord, who will make all things right in His time.
