“I love the LORD, because he has heard my voice and my pleas for mercy” (Psalm 116:1, ESV).
Psalm 116 begins with the words of a grateful heart. God’s kindness prompts the worshipper to gratitude and love. This is a good reminder that our relationship with God comes at His initiative. He reaches down to us; He hears our cries, and lifts up the broken-hearted and weary. The love of God prompts our loving response, and all the glory returns to Him.
Take comfort in the great redeeming works of the Lord in times past, and in His promises for the days to come. He is our hope, in every struggle and circumstance. God alone can save, and God can save anyone who calls to Him. Turn your worries and fears to prayer, and rely on the Lord God Almighty.
