“Exalt the LORD our God, and worship at his holy mountain; for the LORD our God is holy!” (Psalm 99:9, ESV).
This verse concludes Psalm 99 with special emphasis on the awesome holiness of God. In structure and content it parallels verse 5, these two verses marking the end of the psalm’s two stanzas. While the first stanza drew attention to God’s glory more generally, the second recalls His revelation to His people Israel, and both His forbearance and discipline; thus the people of God in particular are called to reckon with the Holy One, and worship before Him.
Glory in the greatness of God, and all His kindnesses. Remember the mercy He has shown you in Jesus Christ our Savior, and the holy calling to grow in likeness to the Holy One our Savior. May reflection on the majesty of God fill you with awe, and remembrance of His grace with gratitude, and make this day a journey of worship.
