His Promise
“This is my comfort in my affliction, that your promise gives me life” (Psalm 119:50, ESV).
God’s word is life-giving to those who receive the promise in faith. So the psalmist reflects that in the Lord’s teaching he finds consolation amid troubles. He pleads with God to remember His word (v.49)—and God is always faithful—and then affirms his own remembrance of God’s promise, and the peace that may be found by taking refuge in the utter reliability of the Almighty.
In your struggles and sorrows, take comfort in the promises of God. In Christ we have been given the promise of forgiveness and life, the unshakable hope of eternity. On top of that, God has promised to be with His people, to strengthen and sustain them, to give wisdom to those who ask, that His love endures. God’s promises are a sure refuge in all our sufferings, trials, and griefs. May the Lord strengthen you today.
