“Praise the LORD! Oh give thanks to the LORD, for he is good, for his steadfast love endures forever!” (Psalm 106:1, ESV).
Psalm 106, like the previous psalm, recounts the wonderful deeds of God in delivering His people. The theme of such a historical accounting is gratitude for the Lord’s enduring love, His power and mercy that persevere to accomplish His purpose. So this psalm begins with praise, focused on the love of God, “steadfast love” that abides and works redemption for His children.
Think about the goodness and mercy of God. His love persists, despite our sins and failings. His love continues, and His blessings are all around us. When suffering or fears stand in our way, we should find strength in turning our hearts to God’s redeeming love and enduring grace. He is mighty and merciful, strong to save.
