“Those who trust in the LORD are like Mount Zion, which cannot be moved, but abides forever. As the mountains surround Jerusalem, so the LORD surrounds his people, from this time forth and forevermore” (Psalm 125:1-2, ESV).
This song of ascents draws the worshipper to gratitude for God’s protection of His people. The travelers are ascending to Mount Zion, and the song turns their attention to the stability and safety of that beloved mountain with the surprising invitation to see themselves in its place. Like the immovable mountain of God’s favor, God’s people are protected by His power.
Trust in the Lord, who watches over His people. There is no security in this world but the strong arm of God Almighty. Though we must pass through trouble and danger, God is able to guard and guide us. Trust in Him, and know the peace and protection of walking with the Lord.
