More Than Can Be Told

“You have multiplied, O LORD my God, your wondrous deeds and your thoughts toward us; none can compare with you! I will proclaim and tell of them, yet they are more than can be told” (Psalm 40:5, ESV). David continues to declare God’s kindness. God delivered him (vv.1-3), and is commended to those who would have blessing (v.4). Now God’s generosity is proclaimed in two apophatic clauses: God’s greatness is beyond comparison, God’s mercies are beyond description. Thus the saint extols the marvels of God’s love.

God is kind. Reflect on all His mercies displayed in the past, as you trust in His merciful care for your future. The Maker and Master of the cosmos cares for you; how wonderful is His unfailing love.
