Morning and Night

“It is good to give thanks to the LORD, to sing praises to your name, O Most High; to declare your steadfast love in the morning, and your faithfulness by night” (Psalm 92:1-2, ESV). Here begins the cheerful praise of Psalm 92. The psalmist delights in the goodness of worship, reflecting on the grandeur and grace of God Almighty. The second verse suggests a constancy of rejoicing in the mercies of God, morning and night proclaiming His love. This is a model for devotion, keeping before our eyes the goodness of the Lord.

Fix your heart upon the abundant mercy of God our Savior. Morning and night, His grace reaches down to us; in failure and flourishing, He goes with us and lifts us up in His forgiveness and providential care. Bring worship into your day in new strength, and rejoice in God as you walk through this day.
