Our Maker

“For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother’s womb” (Psalm 139:13, ESV).

David’s wonder at the knowledge and presence of God now turns to the Lord’s creative work at the beginning of life (vv.13-16). God does not just come along and find us and take an interest in us; He is our Maker, who has cared for us from the beginning. His love and care is displayed in His creatures and our design for flourishing. Every life is a miracle, the life-giving work of God.

Take time to thank God for all His care. Every blessing comes from Him, including our very selves. We owe our existence and our every joy to His kindness; and our hope for new, glorious, and everlasting life is in the resurrection power of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Creation and redemption are God’s gifts; worship is our response.
