“Oh come, let us worship and bow down; let us kneel before the LORD, our Maker! For he is our God, and we are the people of his pasture, and the sheep of his hand” (Psalm 95:6-7, ESV).
After reflecting on God’s sovereignty over His creation (vv.4-5), the psalmist returns to an exhortation to worship, mirroring the first verse. The plea is strengthened by a warning not to repeat the rebellious ways of the past (vv.7-11). Peace is the portion of those who will humbly have God for Lord, and submit themselves to the shepherd’s care.
Humble yourself before the Lord, and know the love of the great Shepherd. Our joy and peace are found in worship, gratefully acknowledging that the Lord is God, and giving glory to His wonderful Name. Let us face life’s trials and troubles by continually turning our hearts to the Most High, our Savior and King.
