“Restore us, O God of hosts; let your face shine, that we may be saved!” (Psalm 80:7, ESV). This psalm of Asaph makes a sustained plea for God to mercifully deliver His people. Verse 7 is the second of three repetitions (with slight variation) of this supplication (also vv.3, 19). The variations concern the full address given to God, and the addition of “of hosts” in the second and third repetition emphasizes God’s power to save. His favor brings redemption; this is fully realized in the atoning work of Christ.
Seek the Lord in every need. God is strong to deliver you, to sustain you, to guide you and provide for you, whatever course life may take. Seek the Lord’s favor in every hour, and walk in the light of His majesty.
