This Is the Day

“This is the day that the LORD has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it” (Psalm 118:24, ESV).

The tone of gratitude continues, and the psalmist both looks brightly towards the future (vv.17-20) and rejoices in God’s deliverance (vv.21-23). Recognizing God’s saving mercies, he calls upon the Lord’s people to delight in the gift of each day. God is our Maker and the Maker of every new day; each day is a gift from Him, to be received with grateful praise.

Rejoice in this day that God has made. Though your heart may be heavy, whatever fears and hurts and burdens weigh upon you, God is gracious and kind. He will protect His people, carry us through every danger and trial, and bring us home at last. May the Lord give you peace and joy as you walk before Him today.
