“Where shall I go from your Spirit? Or where shall I flee from your presence?” (Psalm 139:7, ESV).
In verses 1-6, David marveled at how fully God knows Him; in verses 7-12, he rejoices that God is always present with Him. There’s nowhere we can go where we will be parted from God, in heights or depths (v.8), in the furthest reaches (v.9). This truth has its convicting side, but the emphasis in Psalm 139 is on how comforting it is for God’s people. God is near, God is with us wherever we go.
Find strength in the nearness of God. Wherever you are and whatever is going on in your life, the Lord is present. Draw close to Him by faith in Jesus Christ, and you have nothing to fear. It is the power of God, and not our circumstances, that fills life with hope and joy. God is always with you, always near; take refuge in Him.
